Vincent Rigassi

Architecte

Biographie
Interview

What project are your presenting during the conference programme and, consequently what is the importance of the opening and the façade in the project that you are presenting?

Two years ago I was responsible for a programme of wood-framed passive social housing in the commune of La Terrasse (38), which will be presented during the conference at 2.00 p.m. on 17th November.
Obviously, to achieve the Minergie-P label we had to design a relatively innovative envelope with:
- A ‘double insulation’ wood frame (between the uprights and applied external insulation),
- Wind braces that are external to the frame but requiring the management of possible condensation risks by using layers of decreasing water vapour permeability,
- Careful management of the thermal bridges with the installation of bare external window and doors frames, insulation of the roller blind box, etc.,
- High air tightness requirements requiring very precise interfaces between window and door frames, wood frames and technical elements.

Why do you think équipbaie métalexpo is of interest to architects

Questions associated with the envelope play an important role today in systems of construction, allowing good thermal performance to be achieved. It is also important to manage the interfaces of frames, both at the design stage and on site. To do so, it is necessary to be able to discover existing products, the various methods of installation and also the other parties involved (manufacturers and installers) in order to be able to feed back to them our expectations and needs in the light of the experience gained.

How are technical innovations important for you in the design of your projects and, in particular, in terms of the façade and opening?

There is currently a great deal of thought being devoted to the façade and to changes in systems for its construction, such as, for example, the positioning of the openings and the glazing. For me the show is at one and the same time a place for observing far reaching changes in a market, for discovering new products and for meetings and exchanges with manufacturers and installers.
Vincent Rigassi will talk about “Wood-framed passive social housing with a Minergie-P label”, with reference to the La Terrasse (Isère) project at 2.00 p.m., 17th November
