Preview of the Performance Awards Winners

The jury for the 2012 Performance Awards, made up of journalists and experts from the building sector, has selected ten winners from no fewer than 72 new products and innovations to be presented in the Equipbaie and Metalexpo 2012 Innovations area.

The selection criteria reflect current preoccupations and the key challenges facing the sectors represented at Equipbaie/Metalexpo and the construction industry in general, in the following areas:

>> Energy saving (in the context of the RT 2012 energy efficiency regulations) and energy independence.

>> Products to facilitate energy efficiency retrofits for existing housing.

>> Summer comfort which plays a predominant role in the new energy efficiency regulations, generating a requirement for products to regulate light and solar gain.

>> High-performance products that improve building accessibility for the disabled.

>> Development of better, more specialised window installation methods and associated products.

>> Considerations related to sustainable development, particularly product end-of-life management.

The products submitted were of a consistently high level of accomplishment. Taking a constructive approach to their deliberations, the jury chose ten products that scored particularly highly in several of the above categories.

	AGC France SAS - STOPRAY ULTRA 60T (Stand F34) >> See Exhibitor The judges liked this new AGC glass, capable of being toughened, with a low-emissivity layer and highly-selective solar control (greater than 2), meeting high levels of thermal and acoustic performance (with a laminated glass option), providing summer comfort and solar protection, perfectly in line with current market trends. Thanks to its triple layer of magnetron capable of being toughened (unique in the market and providing improved flexibility for fabricators), Stopray Ultra 60 T provides a light transmittance value of 62%, a solar filter of 30% and a Ug factor of 1. Stopray Ultra 60T has been given ATG technical approval by UBAtc and Cekal certification is in progress. 	*ARBAN GROSFILLEX - GLOCK (Stand K52)** >> See Exhibitor GLock is introducing a revolutionary opening and closing system, combining ease of use and ergonomics, lauded for its fully-developed accessibility features. Adaptable to windows and casement doors (1 or 2 leaves – 16 mm groove), this system includes an opening at an ideal height, automatic locking of the inactive leaf and a child safety device. The window can be opened and closed in perfect safety with no effort by each generation of users. Levels of performance: French air water and wind performance A4-E7A-VA3 up to Uw 0.9W/m3. K; external wall insulation of up to 42dB (AC4); closing force < 5N; AEV and endurance tests (more than 150,000 cycles). DTA technical approval by the CSTB currently in progress. 	FUTUROL' INDUSTRIE - VENI'ROL (Stand S74) >> See Exhibitor As a direct result of the new solar protection and summer comfort regulations, the new roller shutter with adjustable slats from Futurol’Industries is appreciated for its numerous functions. The extruded aluminium slats, with their removal-resistant system, are angled at 45°, whatever the height of the blind, and can be opened partially by selecting the number of slats or by the incorporation of a programmed system (on/off motor only, compatible with Somfy). 180 and 205 mm casings; L. 0.9 to 1.80 m; H. 2.25 m. 	GRIESSER - METALUNIC SINUS® (Stand T22) >> See Exhibitor Also in the summer comfort category, this sun screen has been praised for the ingenuity of its S-shaped selfsupporting slats (unique on the market), providing a combination of solar protection and thermal comfort with an increase in natural light (the slats allow 50% of the light to pass through), a source of improved visual comfort and energy savings. The design of the slats also contributes towards the harmony and the appearance of the external elevation. 	HOPPE FRANCE – POIGNEE DE FENETRE POUR PMR (Stand H18) >> See Exhibitor Complying totally with the requirements of Law No. 2005-102 of 11-02-2005 on accessibility, this stainless steel lever handle for use on double casement windows provides comfort in use in either a seated or a standing position, at operating heights of between 0.90 and 1.30 m, thanks to its three lengths (150, 200 or 300 mm) and extremely flexible ease of operation. It also enables the regulations to be met without adapting the frame or changing the windows. Designed especially for the disabled and for the elderly, it uses a Secustik® patented locking mechanism and complies with standards RAL-RG 607-9 and DIN 18267-FG. 	JANSEN / DESCASYSTEM – COULISSANT JANISOL ARTE (Stand C10) >> See Exhibitor As a perfect response to the thermal regulations and to the optimisation of appearance and the provision of natural light, this large window (3.0 x 2.30 m, 2 leaves) with thermal break is constructed using ultra-fine steel profiles with a core in a highly-insulating, 100% recyclable, composite material. This new generation of profiles creates less expansion and leaves more room for the glass, providing the window with a level of performance Uw of 1.3 W/m3.k. This sliding window now is now covered by CE marking, French AEV (air, water wind) tests and compliance with EN 14024, DTU 39 and NFP 24-351. 	SAINT GOBAIN SEVAX – NESDOOR (Stand U66) >> See Exhibitor Designed especially for accessibility by the elderly and disabled, this multi-purpose motorised system for internal side-hung doors can be adapted to all types of doors with square or overlapping lippings with an angle of opening of between 105° and 160°, including in wet rooms (IP44). Silent and safe, this easily-installed motorised system (fixed at the side of the door) is made easier to use by its cordless accessories, available as an option, and its ability to be programmed, and meets accessibility standards and DIN 18650. 	SOCREDIS – SEUIL PMR SANS ENCASTREMENT POUR COULISSANT PVC (StandL52) >> See Exhibitor An award-winner for its response to accessibility problems, this first non-recessed, patented, high-performance and attractive disabled threshold uses an aluminium profile and a PVC thermal break. With its two tracks, with weather drips and draught-stripping, this 20 mm high threshold for sliding doors can very easily be adapted to all brands and materials. Its exceptional levels of performance (A3 E5B VA3 and a Uw of 1.2 for a sliding door 2.35 x 2.18 using warm edge Ug 0.8) and its high level of airtightness (14 mm layered joint backing) make it ideal to meet the new regulations. 	WAREMA France – STORES VERANDA W102 AVEC SECUDRIVE® (Stand S14) >> See Exhibitor Offering a multitude of functions, the W10² blind, designed for conservatories, terraces and pergolas, incorporates a guidance system for the fabric inside the sliding units, to improve tension and shading. Fitted to a strip of spring steel connected to the fabric, Secudrive® allows lighting to be optimised by two sloping fabrics on a single rail. When unrolled, there is no deformation of the fabric, which can even be arched, with no intermediate tube. The tension and the stability of the fabric are thus increased, providing improved levels of performance and an extended lifespan.
